This paper has presented a kind of theoretical method of identifying the location and the length of a crack on the tensileside of a cantilever beam. A spring hinge with stiff coefficient K has been introduced to establish the mechanical model of a crackedbeam with simple hinges. With the help of energy balance theory and stress intensity factor theory, the relation between K of the springhinge and the length of a crack has been obtained. With comparison method was initial parameters chosed.
